Scott Henley
Meet Scott Henley, WCCP Base 2
Tell us what you're passionate about.
"My twin girls. Hannah and Haley
are identical twins. They are 11 going on 30. haha. I constantly try to be a
loving and positive role model to them. I've spent most of my adult life caring
for others, complete strangers as that has been my job for the past twenty-one
years. I have the pleasure of delivering newborns, but then sometimes ahve to
tell a family a loved one has died. I've become very passionate about people,
their lifestyles and learning that we all live much differently, we communicate
much differently, and probably most importantly, we feel differently. These
experiences have undoubtedly shaped who I am over the years."
What is your occupation/profession?
"Paramedic, Deputy Chief, Flight
Paramedic I've been in the Emergency Medical Services field since 1996. I was
an EMT from 1996-2002 and then became a paramedic in 2002. I'm a certified
critical care flight paramedic and fly in helicopters with a crew of a pilot,
nurse, and paramedic. The views never get old. We transport patients from
hospital to hospital or from a scene to a hospital. I think what's most
rewarding about my full time job is that I work in my hometown, Doylestown. I'm
the Deputy Chief and Clinical Coordinator and have the pleasure of leading a
fine group of EMTs and paramedics. I probably annoy them and drive them nuts
but I push them to be the best they can be so that our community gets the best
emergency medical care possible."
Have a hobby?
"I enjoy being at the beach, Ocean
City, NJ to be exact. There's nothing better than a walk on the boardwalk at
night in search of the perfect ice cream cone. I'm an avid Phillies fan, and
yep, I realize they are terrible, but there is nothing better than being at
Citizens Bank Park for a Sunday afternoon game."
What do you consider your most notable achievements?
"The first 38 years of my life have
been nothing short of awesome, 39 in two weeks, ugh. I had the privilege to
travel many places in high school with the West choir and to share many
memories with some of our current Watson Creek members. Our trip to Paris to
sing at a mass at Notre Dame Cathedral; ACDA conventions in San Diego and
Florida, multiple performances at Carnegie Hall in NYC but perhaps my most
favorite was the performance of Berlioz's Te Drum at St. John the Divine
Cathedral in NYC. I had the opportunity to attend college at Bloomsburg
University and obtain my degree in Secondary English Education and teach high
school at Hazleton Area High School. It was an awesome feeling to push students
to find the best within themselves and watch them grow, however, I found that
my true calling was in medicine, which has led me to the paramedic field. I've
received numerous life-saving commendations throughout the years as a paramedic
and to have the soul that was once dead in my arms present them to me was an
absolute honor and amazing feeling."
Do you have a charity suggestion we can keep in mind?
"Any charity having to do with the
ever-so challenging cancer research. I've had three family loved-ones pass away
from Cancer and am passionate about finding the absolute cure."
