Meet Libby Honan

Meet Libby Honan, WCCP Soprano 1

What are you passionate about?

“Music, theatre, singing, and sharing time with other artists who are passionate. I love creating new theatre with my husband or listening to a Broadway soundtrack for the 100th time but finding some new nuance we didn't notice before. I'm also passionate about my family and always want to share my talents with them and bring more art and culture to them. I love helping young singers find their voice and teaching them proper technique and style.”

What is your occupation?

“Customer service basically. I work in food service, and bartend. I also teach voice lessons out of my home which I would love to do full time, but I haven't built up a large enough student base yet.”

Do you have a hobby?

“Hmmmm, aside from music and theatre, I love my cats Ricky and Clarence and watching tv to relax. I love Big Brother, Better Call Saul, Game of Thrones, Ru Paul's Drag Race, and General Hospital. (I know it's terrible, ok?)”

What do you consider your most notable achievement(s)?

“Definitely my vocal and performance training. My goal was to get to a point where I was never afraid or nervous to sing in front of anyone, and it took many years of practice and discipline to get there.”

Is there a charity you suggest we support?

“My mother, Marie Kane, whom a lot of you had as an English teacher at CB West is suffering from multiple sclerosis, so supporting the national MS society would be a great cause and I know it would mean a lot to her if we did that. I also have participated in a bunch of food pantry events through Starbucks, and they are really fulfilling. Maybe that would be something we could do as a group to donate our time instead of raising money through a concert.”

What skills services or goods can you offer to others in WCCP?

“Definitely available to teach proper classical vocal technique, and I'm a great audition coach if anyone wants to foray into theatre, or some other kind of audition.”

Favorite Book?

“I love the classics such as To Kill A Mockingbird, Farenheit 451, Oliver Twist. But I also love book series such as HP, Hunger Games, and especially the entire Oz book series by L Frank Baum. If you haven't read them all you should. The series as a whole is amazing to read straight through.”
